Use case
Contextual Site Modelling
Ground investigation and remediation work is data-intensive by nature. Site assessments draw on borehole logs, laboratory test results, environmental surveys, and historical records, typically held across dozens of PDF reports and spreadsheets, that are difficult to connect, query, or visualise as a coherent picture of the site.
For a prospective remediation site, understanding the true character of the ground (contamination extents, stratigraphy, groundwater conditions) requires aggregating this data manually, an effort that consumes significant time before any analysis can begin. The same challenge repeats on every live project.
As the first Compass: Terra customer, JF Hunt is using the platform to build a Contextual Site Model: a structured, spatially-aware representation of a prospective remediation site drawn from borehole reports and ground investigation data. Compass: Terra's AI-powered extraction turns PDF-locked data into structured records, connected to real-world locations and depths.
The resulting site model is interactive and queryable, enabling the team to explore ground conditions, visualise contamination in three dimensions, and interrogate the data in ways that weren't previously practical without significant manual effort.
The same capability is applied to live projects, giving JF Hunt a structured analytical foundation for ongoing work, replacing the cycle of manual report collation with a continuously-updated spatial intelligence layer.
